Know all men by these presents that I John Haddock of the state and county aforesaid have for and in consideration of the sum of three hundred and Seventy five Dollars to me in hand paid by Joseph Page before the ensealing and delivering of these presents have given granted bargained and sold and do by there presents give certain tract of land lying and being in the County of Pitt on the south side of Tar River and east side of Indian Well Swamp beginning at a post oak in the Gum Branch north 63 east eighty poles to a pine thence north 13 west and due north with the line to John Brooks pattent to the Platt Branch with the winding thereof to the Indian Well Swamp thence with Indian Well swamp beginning containing by estimation fifty acres more or less ... Also another tract of parcel of land lying in Pitt County and on the south side of Tar River and east side of Indian Well Swamp and north side of Ready pocoson ... Beginning at a pine in the side of the Indian Well John Brooks corner winding with his line north 62 east 80 poles to a pine then thirteen west with another of John Brooks lines eighty poles to a pine then with a contract line between David Mills and Nesby Mills South 73 East 220 poles to a pine ... then south 200 poles to a pine thence west 160 poles to a pine in Isaac Mills line thence along his line north 18 west 100 poles to said Mills corner a pine on the Indian Well Swamp then up the said swamp to the beginning containing by estimation three hundred acres more or less, reference being had to former records will more fully appear to have and to hold the aforesaid tracts to fifty acres excepted for Isaac Mills out of the three hundred acres to be laid off at convene ... of said land against the land where he now lives to him and his heirs forever and I said John Haddock myself my heirs executors and administrators do hereby warrant and forever defend all the afore granted land premisses except as aforesaid the fifty acres for Isaac Mills, to him the said Joseph Page his heirs exers admrs and assigns forever and free from all lawfull claims of any persons or person whatever as witness by hand and seal Jan 18th 1803.
