This Indenture made 6th of November in the year of our Lord 1804 between John Haddock Junr of the State of North Carolina and County of Pitt of the one part and John Haddock Senr father of John Haddock Junr. of the County aforesaid of the other part witnesseth that for and in consideration of the sum of three hundred pounds lawfull money by John Haddock Senr. to said John Haddock Junr., in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged the said John Haddock Junr. hath granted bargained let unto said John Haddock Senr. his heirs and assign the following tracts of parcels of land lying and being in the country of Pitt on the south of Tar River and known by the name of the Indian Well Swamp beginning at a pine by side of the Little Clayroot Swamp on north side running west two hundred poles to a gum in Clayroot then north one hundred and fifty poles to a gum in a pond Avon Coxes Corner then with Avon Coxes line east one hundred fifty poles to a pine then by a line of marked trees to Avon Coxes beginning at a cypress in William Tuttless line then east down said line to a corner on the east side of the Indian Well Swamp to a pine then south two hundred poles to the first station to conclude two hundred acres of land it more or less the pattent bearing date 1749 also one other tract of land beginning at a pine on the east side of Indian Well Swamp it being the same pine last mentioned of the other tract of land being the fourth corner running south two hundred and twelve poles to a water oak in Little Clayroot Swamp then east sixty poles to a pine on the east side of Indian well Swamp then north one hundred poles to a gum in Indian Well Swamp in or near John Mills line then with his line to the beginning bearing November 16th 1790 containing fifty acres more or less also another tract of land granted to Henry Cannon, beginning at three pines on the south side of Little Clayroot Swamp in William Willsons line and runs Said Cannons line north twenty poles to a dead pine his corner then with his other west line two hundred and twelve poles to a gum in said swamp then south fifty eight poles to a pine on the south side said swamp in William Willsons line then down the various windings of the swap side to the beginning it being fifty parcels of land with all the appurtenances and all rights privileges and improvements to the same in any wise belonging to him the said John Haddock Senr. his heirs and assigns executors or administrators the said John Haddock Senr. father of John haddock Junr. his heirs and assigns forever against the lawfull claim of all persons and quietly have and hold occupy posses and injoye the same in witness whereof the parties have unto set heir hands and seals the day and date first above written.
