GARRIS Enslaved person(s): Sarah, 5 years old Date: 16 Jan 1851 State of North Carolina} Pitt County} This indenture made and entered into between Willis Nobles of the one part and Chrischana E. Garris of the other part, both of the State and County aforesaid. Witnesseth that I, the said Nobles, for the natural love and affection I have and bear to my daughter C. E. Garris, have given and granted and by these presents do give and grant her, her heirs and assigns forever, one negro girl by the name of Sarah, aged five years, and her increase forever, valued at $325 dollars, which valuation if I should die without a will is to be accounted for to my estate by the said C. E. Garris or her representative, and I, the said W. Nobles for myself, heirs, and assigns, warrant and forever defend the right and title of said girl and increase to her, the said Chrischany E. Garris, her heirs and assigns, to have and to hold forever. In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 16th day of January 1851. Ack.
