All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/nc/ncfiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Guy Potts http://www.genrecords.net/emailregistry/vols/00017.html#0004214 July 24, 2014, 11:10 pm Written: November 6, 1784 State of North Carolina, To all to Whom these Presents Shall Come – Greeting: KNOW YE, That we, for and in consideration of the sum of fifty shillings for every hundred acres hereby granted, paid into our Treasury by Philip Pipkin, have given and granted, and by these presents do give and grant unto the said Philip Pipkin a tract of land containing sixty acres, lying and being in our County of Pitt, on the south side of Tar River and in the fork of little Contentney Creek. Beginning at a Red Oak said Pipkin’s corner and running along his line north one hundred and forty pole to a read oak then running the dividing line between said Pipkin two patents south sixty degrees east one hundred and forty pole to a pine in said Pipkin’s old line thence with the said line to the beginning as by the Plat hereunto annexed doth appear; together with all woods, waters, mines, minerals, hereditaments and appurtenances to the said land or appertaining: To hold to the said Philip Pipkin, his heirs and assigns forever, yielding and paying to us such sums of money, yearly or otherwise, as our General Assembly from time to time may direct – PROVIDED ALWAYS, That the said Philip Pipkin shall cause this grant to be registered in the Register’s office of our said County of Pitt within twelve months from the date hereof; otherwise the same shall be void and of no effect. IN TESTIMONY WHEREOF, We have caused our Great Seal to be hereunto affixed. WITNESS, Alex Martin, Esquire, our Governor, Captain-General and Commander-in- chief, at New Bern, the sixth day of November in the ninth year of our Independence, and in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty four.
