Know all men by these presents, that I, John Stocks, for and in consideration of the sum of three 
hundred and seventy-five dollars to me in hand paid by John Hardee, Jr., the receipt whereof I 
do hereby acknowledge, hath bargained, sold, and delivered, and by these presents do bargain 
and sell and deliver unto the said John Hardee, one negro woman by the name of Jinney, to 
have and to hold the aforesaid bargained premises unto the said John Hardee, his executors, 
administrators and assigns forever, and I, the said John Stocks, for myself, my executors and 
administrators, shall and will warrant and defend the same against all persons unto the said 
John Hardee, Jr., his executors, administrators and assigns, by these presents.  In witness 
whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 18th day of August 1845.

Then this bill of sale from John Stocks to John Hardee was exhibited in open court and proved 
by the oath of Reuben Gwatney, the subscribing witness thereto. Ordered to be registered.
