WOOTEN Grantee: Charles WOOTEN and Nancy WOOTEN Enslaved person(s): Amos (“negro man”) and A[mos?] (“negro boy”) Date: 21 Mar 1834 North Carolina} Pitt County} Know all men by these presents, that I, Arthur F. Wooten of the one part [and Charles] Wooten of the other part, hath entered into the following articles of agreement (vizt) the said Arthur F. Wooten on his part, doth relinquish his right, title, interest in the property that now is in the possession of Nancy Wooten, both real and personal, [and] said Charles Wooten during the life of the said Nancy Wooten and for the support [and] decent maintenance of the said Nancy Wooten, and after her death, the said [page gutter: Charles?], vizt, one negro man by the name of Amos and one negro boy by the name of [Amos? Page gutter] Dower in the land with all stock farming tools and all other property that was given [page gutter] by deed by the said Nancy Wooten, bearing date the 7th Nov. 1825, except the negroes [page gutter] I now take in possession to the said Charles Wooten, his heirs and assigns forever [page gutter] I the said Arthur Wooten for myself, my heirs and assigns shall and will warrant [and] defend unto the said Charles Wooten the above named property and every part [page gutter] given under my hand and seal this 21st March 1834.
