Edward Pasteur, great beloved and lamented, Miss Mary Pasteur. When youth and beauty fall before the mighty destroyer, we are forcibly struck with the Psalmist's illustration of the brevity of life "as for man, his days are as grass; as the flower of the field so he flourisheth. For the wind passeth over it and it is gone; and the place thereof shall know it no more." Of this amiable young lady, we can say, without the suspicion of unmeaning adulation, that her gentle heart was the seat of every good and benevolent feeling; and that "on her tongue was the law of kindness." "Heaven gives us friends to bless the present scene, Resumes them to prepare us for the next."
