GREEVILLE – Mrs. Susan Pope Thompson, 22, wife of Robert F. Thompson, Jr., 
was killed instantly Thursday afternoon when she was involved in an 
automobile collision near Odessa, Mo.
  She and her husband were enroute to Camp Hanford, Wash., from Greenville 
following their wedding here last Sunday.
  Funeral services will be conducted at the Wilkerson Chapel at 4 p.m. 
Sunday by the Rev. Howard McClamb, her pastor. Burial will be in Greenwood 
Cemetery.
  Mrs. Thompson, daughter of Dr. Benjamin A. Pope of Norfolk, Va., spent 
most of her life in Greenville and graduated in June from Woman’s College, 
Greensboro. She was a member of the Jarvis Memorial Methodist Church.
  Surviving in addition to her husband and her father, is her maternal 
grandmother, Mrs. L.O. Gross of Greenville.
