Pitt County, NC - Will of Jesse T. Davis ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Jesse T. Davis North Carolina, Pitt County I, Jesse T. Davis of the aforesaid County and State, being of sound mind, but considering the uncertainty of my earthly existence, do make and declare this my last will and testament. 1st My executor hereinafter named shall give my body a decent burial suitable to the wishes of my friends and relatives, and pay all my burial expenses. 2nd I give and devise to my beloved wife Martha Davis, enough of my estate to give her a comfortable living, and at her death a decent burial, then after all the indebtedness is settled, and after we have both passed off the stage of action, my will and desire is that all the residue of my estate shall be divided as follows: 3rd I give and bequeath to my son James A. Davis, one double-case silver watch. 4th One fifth of my remaining estate to Dessie Elks One fifth to R. C. Davis One fifth to Royce Davis One fifth to Ora Davis One fifth to Mattie Davis I do constitute and appoint my trusty friend, Jesse S. Elks as Executor to all intent and purposes, to execute this my last will and testament according to the true intent and meaning of the same, and every part and clause thereof, hereby revoking and declaring utterly void all other wills and testaments by me heretofore made.
