The Last Will of Susan Harper I Susan Harper of the County of Pitt and State of North Carolina being of sound mind & memory but considering the uncertainty of my earthly existance do make and publish this my last Will and Testament in manner & form following that is to say first That my Executor hereinafter named shall provide for my body a decent burial according to the wishes of my relatives and pay all funeral expences together with my just debts howsoever and to whomsoever due of the money that may first come into his hands. Item I give to my grandDaughter Mary Harper Daughter of Oliver Harper one Bed bedstand and furniture also one Blur chest one Bridle Heifer Item I give to my grand Son Charles Harper son of Oliver Harper one Sorrel Horse and Sulkey also all the Stock Hogs to have and to hold forever to him and his heirs Item I give and bequeath to my grandDaughter Mary Ann Susan Harper Daughter of Francis Harper one Black Cow to her and her heirs Item I give to my Son Francis Harpers children Twenty Five Dollars out of a note that I hold against Nehamiah Garris for one Hundred Dollars to them and their heirs forever Item I give and bequeath to my Grand Children the Sons and Daughters of my Son Oliver Harper the balance of the note I hold against Nehemiah Garris to them and their heirs forever I give to my grandchild William Harper son of my son Frances Harper one clock to him and his heirs forever Item I give to my grandson Charles Harper son of my son Oliver Harper one cart together with all my corn and fodder also all the fat Hogs to him and his heirs forever Item I give and bequeath to my Grand Daughter Mary Ann Susan Harper Daughter of Frances Harper one big pot to have and hold forever Item I give and bequeath to my Grand Daughters Susan Harper, Nancy Harper and Martha Jane Harper all of my household and kitchen furniture except what I have given before in other items to have and to hold to them and their heirs forver. Item I give and bequeath to my Grand Daughter Mary Harper Daughter of Oliver Harper one negro woman named Mary to have and to hold forever. Item I give and bequeath to my Grand Children Marisa & Joiner Wingate children of Henry Wingate - fifty cents each to have and to hold forever Item I give and bequeath to Henry Wingate fifty cents to him and to hold forever And I do constitute and appoint my Son Oliver Harper to be my Executor to this my last Will and Testament according to the true intent and meaning o the same and every part and clause then of him by revoking and declaring all other Wills & Testaments utterly void and I useless ?? him to form made by me. In witness where of I the said Susan Harper do hereunto set my hand and seal by making my mark this the 30th day of November 1853 Sign and Sealed to be his (sic) last Will and Testament in the presence of us who at her request and in her presence do subscribe our names as Witnesses thereto.
