JACKSON In the name of Almighty God, Amen. I Shadrack S. JACKSON, of the County of Pitt and State of North Carolina, being of sound mind and good bodily health, do hereby make and declare this to be my last Will and Testament (to Wit): 1st: I desire my Executor hereinafter named, to provide for my body a suitable burial in accordance with the wishes of my friends and to pay all my funeral expenses and also all my just debts with the first monies that come into his hands from my estate as a part or parcel of the same. 2nd I give and bequeath to my beloved wife, Alice JACKSON, all my personal property of every kind & description, including all monies on hand or due me at the time of my death, together with all notes, bonds or mortgages, all stock of all kinds, such as Cows. Hogs, & cattle, sheep, goats, etc, all crops growing in the fields and corn, fodder, cotton, peas, hay, etc. on hand. All farming utensils, waggons, Oarts, Buggies, plows, plow gear and all kinds of gear & harness on hand. All household & kitchen, furniture, all poultry & barnyard fouls of every description all wearing apparel, jewelry, clocks, watches, fire arms, musical instruments & etc, absolutely to her & her behalf forever. 3rd I give & bequeath to my niece by marriage, Alice TRIPP, daughter of Bryant TRIPP, subject to the life estate of my wife, Alice JACKSON, all that part of my land lying & situated on the west side of the main road upon which my dwelling house is situated, containing about thirty acres more or less, to have and to hold in fee simple, forever. 4th I give and bequeath to my niece (Winnie EDWARDS), daughter of my sister Macie McLAWHORN, subject to the life estate of my wife, Alice JACKSON, all that part of my land lying and being on the east side of main road, containing fifty-three acres, more or less, to have & to hold, in fee simple, forever. 5th I hereby give unto my beloved wife, Alice JACKSON, "A Life Estate" upon all the lands I may die possessed of. 6th I give unto my brother, John JACKSON heirs, Five Dollars in money 7th I give unto my sister Nancy HARRINGTON, Five Dollars in money 8th I do hereby nominate, designate and lastly depertise & appoint my trusted friend, Thomas McLAWHORN, my lawful executor, to this my last will & testament. To all of which I do hereby sign with my hand & seal with my seal this the 15th day of February 1906 in the presence of S.V. LAUGHINGHOUSE & Robt. S. STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA} PITT COUNTY } ss In the Superior Court A paper writing purporting to be the Last Will and Testament of Shadrack S. Jackson, deceased is exhibited before me, the undersigned clerk of the Superior Court for said County by ___ the execution thereon mentioned, and the due execution thereof by the said Shadrack S. Jackson is proven by the oath and examination of S. V. Laughinghouse, the subscribing witness thereto, who being duly sworn, doth depose and say and each for himself deposeth and saith that he is a subscribing witness to the paper writing now shown him, purporting to be the last will and testament of Shadrack S. Jackson, that the said Shadrack S. Jackson in the presence of this deponent subscribed his name at the end of said paper writing, which is now shown as aforesaid, and which bears date of the 15th day of Feby, 1906. And the deponent further saith that the said Shadrack S. Jackson, the testator aforesaid, did at the time of subscribing his name as aforesaid, declare the said paper writing as described by him and exhibited to be his Last Will & Testament, and this deponent did thereupon subscribe his name at the end of said Will, as an attesting witness thereto and at the request and we the presence of said testator and this deponent further saith that at the same time where the said testator subscribed his name to the last will as a foresaid, and at the time of the deponents subscribing his name as attesting witness. Thereto, as aforesaid, the said Shadrack Jackson was of sound mind and memory, of full age to execute a Will and was not under any restraint to the knowledge, information or belief of this deponent and further these deponents say not. Jackson, deceased, is exhibited before the undersigned clerk of the Superior Court of Pitt County for probate, to which appears the names of S. V. Laughinghouse and Robt S. Quinerly, subscribing witnesses thereto now appears R. C. McCotter being by me duly sworn, deposes and says that Robt. S. Quinerly, one of the subscribing witnesses to said paper writing is dead, and that he is well acquainted with the hand writing of the said Robt. S. Quinerly, and that his signatures as a subscribing witness to said paper writing is in his own genuine hand writing. Signed: R. C.
