The Rutherfordton Vindicator says W B Mills, postmaster and merchant at Pea
Ridge, Polk county, was killed on the 18th in a difficulty with Jonas Wilson,
Chas. Waldrop and the latter's brother. The men had a grudge at Mills, went to
his store and started a row. He ordered them from the building and closed the
door. They fired into the door and Mills went out at the rear and started to his
house near by. He was followed and shot on the piazza of his own home, from the
effects of which he died last Tuesday. His assailants have not been captured.
