S. Cox, Comm’r to Rachel S. Cross North Carolina County of Randolph This Deed, made by J.S. Cox, Commissioner, etc., under a Judgment of the Superior Court of said County, in the Special Proceedings entitled J.S. Cox, Admin. of Luke H. Cross, dec’d, against C. J. Moon, M.D., etc., to Rachel S. Cross of Randolph County. Witnesseth, That whereas the said J. S. Cox being thereto licensed by a Judgment in said proceedings, did, on the 10th day of August, 1891, after due advertisement, expose the land, hereinafter described, to public sale at the Courthouse door and then and there the said R. S. Cross became the last and highest bidder for said land at the sum of one hundred dollars and complied with the terms of the sale, and whereas upon report of said sale to the said Court, the same was confirmed and the said J. S. Cox, Commissioner as aforesaid, was ordered by the judgment of said Court to execute a deed in fee simple to said purchaser, upon payment of said purchase money; and whereas, the said purchase money has been paid in full; Now in consideration of this premises, the said J. S. Cox, Commissioner as aforesaid, doth hereby bargain, sell and convey to the said R. S. Cross and her heirs and assigns, that certain parcel or tract of land, situate in said County, adjoining the lands of Wm. Jarrell and others and bounded as follows: Beginning at a stone pile in William Jarrell’s line and running thence south twenty-four chains and fifty links to a stone pile in Jesse Giles line, thence west on said line sixteen chains & 30 links to a stone pile near a small [branch?]; thence north twenty-four chains & 50 links to a stake in Wm. Jarrell’s line; thence east on said line sixteen chains & 30 links to the beginning and containing forty acres, more or less. To have and hold said land, with its appurtenances, to [have] the said Rachel S. Cross, her heirs and assigns forever in as full and ample [payment?] as said J. S. Coc, Commissioner, to convey the same and no further. In witness whereof, the said J. S. Cox, Commissioner, to [these] presents set my hand and seal this ______ day of _____________, 1891. J. S.
