Randolph County, NC - Tidence Lane Revolutionary War Pension, 1833 ~~~~~~~~~~ June 7, 1938 Mr. Herbert J. Smith St. Louis, Missouri Dear Sir: The data contained herein were obtained from the papers on file in the Revolutionary War claim W.377 based upon the military service of Tidence Lane in that war. Tidence Lane was born May 12, 1763 on Deep River, Randolph County, North Carolina. The names of his parents are not shown. While residing on Boon's Creek on Watauga River, Washington County, North Carolina which was afterwards in East Tennessee, he enlisted February 1781 and served a tour of three months in Captain Elijah Witt's Company, Colonels Robertson and Sevier's North Carolina Regiment. He enlisted September 1782 and served a tour of three months in Captain Thomas Hardiman's Company, Colonel John Sevier's North Carolina Regiment and was in skirmishes with the Indians and burned their towns. He enlisted in 1786 and served under Captain John Hardin in General Martin's campaign and was in the battle of Lookout Mountain and in 1791 was in General Dougherty's campaign, no details of this service given. He was allowed pension on his application executed September 3, 1833 while a resident of Jefferson County, Tennessee. He died January 25, 1841, place not stated. Soldier married October 23, 1783, Mary, her maiden name not given. She was allowed pension on her application executed January 20, 1845 while a resident of Jefferson County, Tennessee, aged seventy- seven years.
