Jan. 26, 1859 $100 REWARD RANAWAY FROM THE SUBSCRIBER IN RANDOLPH COUNTY on or about the 25th of Dec. 1858, my negro man, JORDAN. He is about 30 years old, weighing about 170 lbs, six feet high, quick spoken, and very intelligent; copper complexion, dark heavy whiskers, very well clothed; had in his possession a neat silver watch, and it is supposed that he had considerable money when he left. Said negro is an excellent Boot and Shoe Maker and is no doubt trying to make his way to the State of Ohio where he has a wife, and may have counterfeit free papers forged by some white man. I will give $50 for his safe confinement in any jail in North Carolina or his delivery to me in Randolph County; and a reward of $50 more for sufficient evidence that will convict any person or persons who may be harboring said slave, or assisting him either directly or indirectly, to make his escape to some free State.
