parents, Howard and Wilma Martin. He was of the Baptist faith. Survived by

ASHEBORO- John Thomas Hamilton Sr., 64, passed July 1, 2006, at Randolph

Tommy Fuquay officiating. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery. Born 
November 23, 1941 in Randolph County, NC, Tommy was the son of the late John 
and Nellie Kinney Hamilton. Preceded in death by his son, Jonathan Chad 
Hamilton, and his godson, Chad Fields. Survived by his wife, Linda Cranford 
Hamilton, of the home; daughter, Krista D. Hamilton, of the home; son John T. 
Hamilton, Jr. and wife, Michele, of Asheboro; grandchildren, Alex Hamilton,

Marston, NC, the son of the late A. F. and the late Joanna (Pryon) Haigler.

married to Arleen McGinn Smith who survives of the home. Surviving are two 
daughters, Mrs. Monica Smith Tyler and her husband Robert of Greensboro and 
Stephanie Claire Smith of High Point; his parents, Ed and Virginia Smith of

Interment will follow in Floral Garden Memorial Park. Born January 25, 1935 
in Guilford County, son of the late Robert E. Gray, Sr and Mildred Thomas 
Gray. On September 26, 1952 he married the former Shirley Blackwell who 
survives. Surviving, four children; Connie Gray Bales and her husband David 
of Tucson, AZ, Cheri Lynn Gray, Robert E. “Trey” Gray, III and his wife Renee 
and John Robert Gray , all of Archdale. He is also survived by three

TRINITY-Mrs. Margaret Lassiter Monroe, 97, passed July 11, 2006, at Graybrier 
Nursing and Retirement Center. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. July 14th 
at Poplar Ridge Friends Meeting, with Pastor Randy Quate and Pastor Winfred 
Crouse officiating. Interment will follow in the Meeting Cemetery. Born Dec. 
27, 1908, in Montgomery County, a daughter to the late Millard Filmore and 
Fannie Hurley Lassiter. In 1928, she married Millard Curtis Monroe who 
preceded her in death in 1976. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, 
Evelyn Monroe Clark in 2003; and 14 brothers and sisters. Surviving are nine 
children, Clementine Hill and husband, Bobby, Vera Stanley, Harold Monroe and 
wife, Susie, Kenneth Monroe and wife, Irene, Wayne Monroe and wife, Brenda, 
Charles Monroe and wife, Brenda, all of Trinity, Leon Monroe and wife, Cindy, 
of Clemmons, Ed Monroe and wife, Pat, of Lexington, and Fairlee Webb and 
husband, Jerry, of Lexington; 23 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; eight

July 28, 1934 the son of Carl and Sallie (Lowe) Pickard. Survived by his wife 
Thelma Ann Holt Pickard of the home; best friend, son and his wife: Mark and 
Missy Pickard, and grandchildren Mallory and Chase of Raleigh; his 
stepdaughters and their husbands Gloria and Joe Terry of Asheboro, and Brenda 
and Donnie Brady of Jamestown and their families; sisters Ruby Blair, Frances 
Robbins, and Cloyce Poe of Siler City; sister Aliene Lambert of Charleston, 
SC; brother and his wife Jack and Josie Pickard of Bonlee, NC; and eight
