ARCHDALE-Cletus Sumner Bennett, 95, passed March1, 2008 in the High Point 
Regional Hospital. Funeral at Mount Gilead United Methodist Church; Rev. Jim 
Bowen officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Born August 
27, 1912 in Randolph County a daughter of Matthew and Lillie Pierce Sumner. 
Preceded in death by her husband, Thurman William Bennett in l953. Surviving, 
daughter; Mrs. Hazel Mooney and husband Bill of High Point and l son; Thurman 
R. Bennett and wife Ann of Archdale; sister; Mrs. Imogene Webster Robbins of

nursing home. Graveside service at Parks Crossroads Christian Church Cemetery 
in Ramseur; Rev. Jimmy Turner. Born in Randolph County, April 17, 1916 a 
daughter of Willie J. Edwards and Mary Etta Rains Edwards. Preceded in death 
by both parents, sisters, Mrs. Rita Malissia Edwards Jones and Mrs. Mary 
Lydia Edwards Roberts, and by three brothers, Wade Baxter Edwards, Joe Ray 
Edwards, and William Tate Edwards. Surviving are a niece, Ms Jane Edwards of 
Thomasville; three nephews, Charles (Chuck) Edwards and his wife Nadine of 
Atlanta, GA, William (Bill) Edwards and his wife Retta of Thomasville, and

Friends Cemetery. Born in Guilford County on August 24, l927 , son of the 
late Charlie L. and Venia H. Hill. On June 27, l947 he married Joyce Scoggin 
who survives of the home. Preceded in death by a daughter Marcia White on 
March 28, 2005 and a sister Eva H. Sherrill. Survived by a son Steve Hill and 
wife Sylvia of High Point, a brother Quinton Hill and wife Luanne of Raleigh, 
and a sister Jeanette Davis and husband Ron of Bullard, Texas. He is also 
survived by four grandchildren, Tina Helms, Van Hill and wife Cheri, Ryan
