Caviness of Randolph County. She was born about 1809 and died 1 Jan. 1873, buried at Raines Cemetery, Randolph County, NC. Will of Hannah Macon Caviness, Randolph County, NC Will Book 15, pages 96, 97, 98. I Hannah Caviness Widow of the late Benjamin S. Caviness deceased of the County of Randolph and State of North Carolina being of sound mind and memory but considering the uncertainty of my earthly existence do make and declare this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following That is to say First That my executor hereinafter named shall provide for my body a decent burial suitable to the wishes of my relatives and friends, And to procure Tombstones for my own And my husbands grave, to be of good material with suitable inscriptions thereon each Tombstone mot to cost less than One Hundred Dollars, And pay all funeral expenses together with my just debts however and to whomsoever owing as part or parcel of my estate. Item 1st: I give and devise to the children of Benjamin S. Caviness Viz Braxton M. Caviness and Isaac F. Caviness Sr. one fourth part of my estate share and share alike. Item 2nd: I give and devise to the children of Alfred Caviness viz. Isaac F. Caviness, Wm. J. Caviness, A. W. Caviness and Delila Ann Parks Wife of Thomas Parks one fourth part of my entire estate share and share alike. Item 3rd: I give and devise to the children of J. R. Caviness viz. Alfred H. Caviness, Eliza Caviness, Mary Caviness, John Caviness and Robert F. Caviness one fourth part of my entire estate share and share alike. Item 4th: I give and devise to the children of James S. Carter and Mary M. Carter his wife daughter of Benjamin S. Caviness deceased Viz. James S. Carter, Eliza C. Carter, George Carter, Wm. Carter, Stephen Carter, Mary Carter and...Carter an infant name not known and the children of A.E. Caviness Viz. John A. Caviness, Elizabeth Caviness and Wesley Caviness by his first wife the remainder of my estate to be divided share and share alike. Item 5th: My desire is that my executor (hereinafter named) shall pay to each party entitled who may be of lawful age, his or her distributive share and take reciepts for the same. Item 6th: My will and desire is that all my property be sold and the debts owing to me be collected, and that my executor (hereinafter named) receive all the monies notes and accounts that may be due me, and of all my property and effects. Item 7th: I hereby constitute and appoint my Trusty Friends Alfred Caviness & Wm. M. Harper, Guardians for all the parties named in this my last will to whom I have made devises and who may not be of lawful age at the time this will goes into effect, to have and to hold the custody and Guardianship of their respective shares, untill they shall severally arrive at the full age of Twenty one years. And lastly I do hereby Constitute and appoint my trusty friends Wm. M. Harper & Alfred Caviness my lawful Executors to all intents and purposes, to execute this my last will and Testament; according to the true intent and meaning of the same, and every part and Clause thereof, hereby revoking and declaring utterly void all other wills and testaments by me heretofore made.
