Will of George Herman

Randolph County, NC Original Wills, George Herman, 1787, State Archives of North 
Carolina, Raleigh, NC; Recorded Copy, Randolph County, NC Will Book 1, 1773-1793, 
p. 45. 

In the name of God Amen Whareas I George Herman of Randolph County No. Carolina 
am w[e]ake of body but of Sound Mind & Memory do make this my Last Will & 
Testament in Manner & form following (to wit)
first I give to my Loving wife Mary one third part of the Plantation I now live 
on during her Life Including the House Barn & Orchard with the Appurtenances 
thereunto belonging to be laid off if She sees Cause in order to Rent out or 
otherwise & also the third part of my Still & also the Stove in my house to 
remove whare She sees cause during her life & also one good bed & furniture with 
the remainder of one third part of my personal Estate with my ____ & what may be 
therein for Ever
I also Give to my Son George the plantation whereon I now live Excepting as 
before & at her death to him & his Heirs for Ever & assigs & Alsoe for Ever
Also to Cutliffe & George I give the wood work of a Waggon & the Tire of an old 
one Share & Share a like
Also to my Son Philip I Give Twenty Shillings Specie and the remainder of my 
personal Estate in Goods & Chattles I Give to my five Children to wit Mathias 
Cutliffe Catrin Ulie & George after my Wifes third part is Deducted to be Equally 
divided between them
Also to my son in law Daniel Wagoner I give the Sum of Five pounds 
And I do hereby Nominate & appoint my Trust friends John Mast and Adam Bowers 
Executors to this my Last Will & Testament to see the Same performd according to 
the true intent & meaning thereof in Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand 
& seal this Twentieth day of August in the year one thousand Seven Hundred & 
Eighty Six.
