Richmond County NC Register of Deeds - Book C. pg. 507 - William Adams
to Alex'r McRae

This Indenture made this ninth Day of January in the year of our Lord
one thousand seven hundred and ninetysix Between William Adams of
Marlborough County and State of South Carolina Miller of the one part
and Alex'r McRae of the state of North Carolina and Richmond County of
the other part.  Witnesseth that for an in consideration of the sum of
one Hundred pounds current money of North Carolina in hand paid by the
said Alex'r McRae to me the said Wm Adams the receipt whereof is hereby
acknowleged have granted Bargained and Sold and by those presents doth
give grant Bargain and sell ... ... convey and confirm unto the said
Alex'r McRae a certain piece or parcell of Land lying and being in the
County of Richmond formerly Anson County in the state of North Carolina
on the east side of Great Peedee River on the waters of Mountain Creek
Beginning at a certain stake on the north side of the run known by the
name of grimes fork then runing North West to the corner to a stake two
post oaks and one pine pointers then South 85 west 148 poles to a stake
two post Oaks and one pine pointer then So 70 Wt 87 poles than So 5 E 1
to the said grimes fork then up the said fork the various courses
thereof to the first Station it being part of a tract of Land granted to
Jesse Wallis by patent it Bearing Date the 24th Day of febr 7 1775 and
from Jesse Wallis conveyed to Jeremiah Hendricks and from J. Hendricks
to Wm. Adams by deed Bearing Date the 27th Day of July 1776 and from him
the said Wm. Adams to Wm. Adams Junr Heir at Law - the same containing
one hundred and eighty five acres But be the same more or less To have
and to hold the aforesaid one Hundred and eighty five acres of Land with
all their appurtances and all rights privileges profits ... rents
thereunto Belonging or in anyway appurtaining to him the said Alexander
McRae his heirs and assigns forever and to their own proper use and ...
and the said William Adams doth for himself his heirs and assigns
Covenant and agree to and with the sd Alexr McRae his heirs and assigns
that the said Alex'r McRae his heirs and assigns may from time to time
and at all times hereafter peaceably possess have hold occupy and enjoy
the aforesaid Granted Lands and premises with ... or hindrance of any
person or persons whatsoever and free and clear from all manner of ...
...  The taxes assessing to the state only excepted and the said William
Adams with for himself his heirs and assigns Covenant and agree to and
with the said Alex'r McRae his heirs Executors Administrators and
assigns that he will warrant and forever defend the aforesaid Land and
premises against the Lawfull title or claim of any person or persons
whatsoever in Testimony whereof the parties have hereunto set their
hands and affixed their seals this Day and year first above written.
