All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/nc/ncfiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Joseph Harris Scarborough joescarb@skybest.com June 24, 2007, 8:38 am Written: December 14, 1835 Recorded: January 1836 Book O, page 386 Register of Deeds Richmond County, North Carolina Viewed and copied 19 May 2006 Transcribed 26 June 2006 Benagy Pate from Alex'r Graham (Deed) This Indenture made the 14th day of December in the year of our Lord One thousand Eight Hundred & thirty five between Alex'r Graham of the County of Richmond & State of North Carolina of the one part & Benagy Pate of the same State & County of the other part Witnesseth that for & in consideration of the sum of Fifty dollars to me in hand paid at or before the insealing & delivering of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged I the sd Alexander Graham for myself my Heirs & assigns forever hath bargained sold aleined conveyed & confirmed & by these presents do grant sell release convey & confirm unto the said Benagy Pate his Heirs & assigns forever a certain tract or parcel of land containing thirty acres situate lying & being in the County of Richmond & State of North Carolina on the West side of Bear Creek east of Panther Creek Beginning at a stake the 5th Corner of a tract of 195 acres granted to John Clark now belonging to the heirs of Moses Parker between Bear Creek & Panther Creek & runs with the 5th line of sd tract N. 75 W. 37 Ch & 50 links to the 6th Corner of sd tract with the line of a 100 acre tract owned by the Heirs of the aforesaid South 49 E. 50 chains to his own line of the Smith land then as sd land & with it N 29 W. 20 Chs to his own corner - then with his own line direct to the Beginning Containing 30 acres it being a tract of land ranted to the sd Alex'r Graham by his Excellency the Governor his letter patent bearing date the 6th day of Augt [sic] 1831 & I the said Alex'r Graham for myself my Heirs & assigns forever do covenant, agree to & with the sd Benagy Pate his heirs & assigns forever To Have & to Hold occupy & possess the above bargained 30 acres of land & all the privileges thereunto belonging as above mentioned as an indefeasible right of inheritance without any hindrance incumbrance or molestation according to the true intent & meaning of these presents & according to the best form of conveyance in Law justice or Equity, lastly I the sd Alex’r Graham my heirs & assigns forever do warrant & shall forever defend the above bargained land & premises from all claims from any other person whatsoever In witness whereof I the sd Alex’r Graham do hereunto set my hand & affix my [previous two words interscribed] seal the day & year first above written Signed sealed & delivered in the presence of us Joshua Fletcher Alex’r Graham {Seal} John Fletcher State of North Carolina} Court of Pleas & Quarter Sessions Richmond County } Jan’y Term 1836 The within deed from Alexander Graham to Benagy Pate was proven in open court by the oath of Joshua Fletcher a subscribing witness thereto.
