S. March 12th, 1771, on the north side of North Fork of Cartledge Creek, and run with PHILEMON THOMAS’s line west, etc. (grant No. 182, file no. 2748.) This land ran almost to what is now the town of Ellerbe. A 300- acre grant in 1773, where stood the PHILEMON THOMAS, later McKenzie-Covington house, (see picture.) The W. S.
