All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/nc/ncfiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Joseph Harris Scarborough joescarb@skybest.com June 24, 2007, 10:06 am Written: July 19, 1837 Recorded: October 1839 Book P, page 399 Register of Deeds Richmond County, North Carolina Viewed and copied 19 May 2006 Transcribed 18 March 2007 by Joseph Harris Scarborough Joshua Fletcher from Benagy Pate (Deed) State of North Carolina}Know all men by these presents that Benagy Richmond County }Pate of the county of Richmon [sic] an [sic] State aforesaid planter in consideration of the sum of fifty eight dollars to me in hand paid by Joshua Fletcher of the state of South Carolina & District of Marlborough planter have granted bargained sold & released & by these presents do grant bargain sell & release unto the said Joshua Fletcher all that tract of land containing thirty acres beginning at a stake the fifth corner of a tract of one hundred & ninety five acres granted to John Clark now belonging to heirs of Moses Parker between Bear Creek & Panter [Panther] creek & runs with the fifth line of the said tract No 75 degrees West 37 chains & 50 links to the sixth corner of the said tract with the line of a hundred acre tract owned by the heirs of of [sic] the foresaid lands frty [sic] nine degrees East fifty chains to his own line of the same Smith land, thence as said land & with it North twenty nine degrees West twenty chains to his corner thence with his own line direct to the beginning containing thirty acres it being a tract of land granted to the said Alexander Graham by his Excellency the Governor his title patent bearing date the sixth day of August 1831 and I the said Benagy Pate for myself my heirs & assigns forever do covenant & agree to & with the said Joshua Fletcher his heirs & assigns forever to have & to hold occupy and possess the above bargained thirty acres of land & all the privileges thereunto belonging as above mentioned as an indefenceless right of inheritance without any hindrance in incomberance [sic] or or [sic] molestation accordin [sic] to the true intents & meaning of these presents & according the best from [sic] of conveyance in law justice or equity & lastly I the said Benagy Pate my self, my heirs & assigns forever do warrant & shall forever defend the above bargained land & premises from all claims from any other person or persons lawful claim or to claim any part thereof In witness whereof I have set my hand and fixed my seal this July the 19th 1837. signed seald [sic] & delivered in the presence} Benagy Pate{Seal} of Raford Fletcher his William x Britten mark State of North Carolina } Court of Pleas & Quarter Sessions Richmond County } October Term 1839 Then the foregoing Deed from Benagy Pate to Joshua Fletcher was proven in open Court by the oath of Raford Fletcher .
