North Carolina "Argus" Nov. 11, 1854
   DIED, on the 2nd instant, in the 63rd year of his age, at the house of COL. 
JOHN C. McLAURIN, Richmond County, on his way home from the late Synod of 
North Carolina, REV. ARCHIBALD SMITH.
   While in Concord, he was a little indisposed, but he started for his home 
in Robeson County on Monday, apparently in his usual health, and on Wednesday, 
1st of November, three o'clock p.m., near McLAURIN'S, he was seized with a 
chill, which though skillful medical aid was procured, and the attention of 
kind friends was immediatelly given, proved to be the chill of death: for he 
peacefully fell asleep in Jesus, the subsequent morning at four o'clock. Thus 
died, at his post, in the discharge of duty, this good, laborious and faithful 
servant of the Lord.
