May 23, 1827 North Carolina Journal Written: April 16, 1827 Recorded: May 23, 1827 SHERIFF'S SALE By virtue of two Writs of Vendition Exponas, at the suit of DUNCAN McCOLL against the EXECUTORS OF JAMES STEWART, will be sold at the Court House in the Town of Rockingham, Richmond County, on the 3rd Monday in June next, the pieces or parcels of land devised by JAMES STEWART to his son, JOHN P. STEWART, adjoining the lands of HUGH McAIRN, ALEX. SUTHERLAND, JOHN CARMICHAEL, and others -- the which pieces of land include the plantation of which JAMES STEWART lived preceding and at the time of his death -- the number of acres is supposed to be 1,000. The plantation is well improved, the Mansion House is large and elegant, well calculated for the accommodation of travellers, the out-buildings are good, with two store houses, one of which is new, and is supposed to be as good a country stand for a merchant as any in the southern parts of the State.
