Robeson County, NC - Mrs. Nancy Barnes, Oldest Woman ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Robeson County Woman 111 Years Old Yesterday Mrs. Nancy Barnes, who lives with her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. D. R. Rhodes, at Bloomingdale, near Barnesville, was one hundred and eleven years old yesterday, having been born January 26, 1805. She is perfectly helpless. Mr. Rhodes, who was in Lumberton Tuesday to attend the funeral of his nephew Mr. N. H. Jones, says there is no doubt whatever about her age. Another old person in that neighborhood passed away some time ago at the tender age of 96 years, and this person was often heard to remark that he remembered perfectly in his youth that Mrs. Barnes was then a grown young lady, very much older than he. If Robeson has not the oldest person in the State it just naturally cannot be far behind the county that has that oldest person.
