Take Old Whiteville Road until you reach Beulah Church Road and turn right there. A couple of miles more and the Clewis Cemetery is back behind a private residence almost across from the Pittman Cemetery. Zachariah Clewis was a Confederate Veteran: 46th Regiment, Company A., North Carolina Troops and was with the rag tag balance of that regiment with General Robert E.Lee when he surrendered at Appomattox Courthouse, Virginia. Helen Storm was first married to Jordan L. Phillips Jr.who died in 1865 and had two children by him: Susan Caroline Phillips, wife of Randolph Pittman, son of Uriah Pitman, and Joanna Louisa Phillips wife of Zachariah Clewis. Helen Storm married Wright Pittman after the death of his first wife, Mary Elizabeth Nance.
