It is also the cemetery of his son David Fentress Israel and his wife Arminta Ward. The Israel Family Cemetery is on Old Whiteville Road in Southeast Robeson County about four to five miles from East Lumberton. From Roberts Avenue in East Lumberton travel four to five miles. The Israel Cemeter is hard to find. It is on the old Israel Family Farm which is set some distance back on the road on the right where you turn. But you can see the clump of trees where the Israel Cemetery lies several hundred yards behind the Old David Israel Home which still stands weathered and beaten by time. The land is no longer in Israel Family hands so permission should be asked of the owner who lives in a 2 story apartment to the left of the Israel Family Home. I was there and did these inscriptions June 26, 2007. The cemetery is in great disrepair and overgrown and many of the headstones are broken. There were two markers broken in pieces of basically unmarked graves and Israel Family members have told me there are other unmarked graves there. These are the one's still identifiable. Also, my Great Grandmother Claricy Jane Pittman, daughter of Jordan Lee Pittman and his wife Mary Jane Israel, daughter of John and Molcy Israel has Mary Jane Israel buried here so likely one of the unmarked graves is hers.
