Townsend Family Cemetery, Robeson County, NC

Survey taken September 24, 2003

From the intersection of I-95 and US 74 in Robeson County, NC, go
west .1 mile on US 74 to Kendric Rd.  Go north 1.5 miles on Kendric
Rd.  The cemetery is on the west side of the road between two large
highway signs.   The area around the cemetery has been subject to a
tractor of some sort which has shattered some grave markers.  It
appears that the brush is now being cut by hand to keep the foliage
from growing up and obscuring the signs.  There is no name on this
cemetery and I have assigned the name "Townsend Family Cemetery"
arbitarily.  An 1884 map of Robeson County in the N.C. state archives
shows two Townsend families living in this area.
