C. Sherman, on Sherman’s March through the Carolina’s, had the Lumber Bridge Presbyterian Church house and the Temperance Hall dismantled, and the lumber thereof was used to build a road through the adjoining swamp which allowed his troops to ascend north to Fayetteville, NC.
