         Robeson County {
This Indenture made this 25th day of August
in the year of our Lord one Thousand Eight
Hundred and fifty two between Thomas A.
Norment Esquire Chairman of the County Court
of the County and State aforesaid on behalf of
the Justices of Said County and their SucceSsors
on the one part and Josiah Barnes of the
other part witneSseth that the said Thomas A.
Norment Esquire pursuant to an order of the
Said County Court made the 25th day of August
1851 and according to the direction of the
act of aSsembly in such Cases made and
provided doth put place and bind unto
the said Josiah Barnes a white boy by the
name of Archibald Sanderson about thirteen
years of age with the Said Josiah Barnes
to live after the manner of an apprentice
and servant until the said apprentice shall
attain to the age of twenty one years during
all which time the said Apprentice shall
faithfully Serve the Said Josiah Barnes and
his lawful Commands redily obey and
the said apprentice shall not at any time
absent himself from the service of the Josiah
Barnes and the said Josiah Barnes doth
Covenant promise and agree to and with
the said Thomas A Norment that he will
Teach and instruct or Cause to be taught
and instructed the said apprentice to Learn
                                 and that
will Constantly find and provide for the
said apprentice during the term aforesaid

Sufficient diet  washing lodging and apparel
fitting for an apprentice and also all
other things neceSsary both in SickneSs and
in health in witneSs whereof the parties to
these presents have interchangeably set their
hands and affixed their seals the day and
year first above written
