STATE –VS- JOHN WILCOX AND POLLY RICE

CHARGES OF ADULTERY

STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA, } SUPERIOR COURT OF LAW,

Robeson County.          }  Fall Term, 1837

The Jurors for the State upon their oath present, That John

Wilcox and Polly Rice (she

Being a single woman)

Late of Robeson on the tenth

day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand

eight hundred and thirty- six

                                                and on

other days and times before and since in said County did Commit

Adultery and then and there

did bed and Cohabit, without

being lawfully married, and

then and there had one child

without parting or an entire

separation contrary to the form

of the State be in such cases

mach and provided and

against the peace and dignity of

the state                       A. Troy
