James Barnes         State of North Carolina Robeson
     To              County, Know all men by these
Atkinson Barnes      presents that I James Barnes
                     Of the State and County above
Said have in consideration of four hundred dollars
bargained Sold and delivered unto my Son
Atkinson Barnes a Negro man named Peter which
Said Negro I bind myself my heirs and aSsigns
Jointly by these presents to warrant and defend
the right and title of to him the Said Atkinson
Barnes his heirs and aSsigns in witneSs whereof
I have here unto Set my hand and Seal this
3d day of January 1831.            His

G Reynolds     {  Term 1831 Then was this bill
of Sale proven in open Court by the oath
of G Reynolds and ordered to be
