This indenture the 6th day of October One thousand eight hundred and thirty two between Jesse Humphrey of the County of Robeson and State of North Carolina of the one part and William Townsend of the state and county aforesaid of the other part, Witnesseth that the said Jesse Humphrey for and in consideration of the sum of Two Hundred and fifty Dollars to him in hand paid by William Townsend for a certain piece or parcel of land lying on the north side of the reedy branch it being the part of a five Hundred acres survey patented by John Sloan that is to say all that part lying on the north side of the reedy branch supposed to be Two Hundred acres be the same more or less beginning at a large poplar in the North edge of the ten Mile Swamp near the mouth of a branch a little above Archibald Crawfords and run North 10 W 20 chains and 28 links to a (bundle port ?) oak poplar and bay pointers in the NE edge of a small branch them North 53 W to and with A Gilchrists line 33 chains and 68 links to a stake two oaks and two gums pointers in an open pond then North Sixty nine degrees west to and with the line of the Cain Survey to the run of the reedy branch then the various corners of the said branch in the ten Mile Swamp until it strikes or enters the east line of said survey at a right angle then at that line North sixth degrees east to the corner then (..?..) to the beginning to have and to hold the said piece or parcel of land with allways woods waters and every other appurtenances thereunto belonging orappertaining unto the said William Townsend his heirs and assigns forever and I for myself my heirs & c shall and (evets ?) warrant and forever defend the said piece or parcel of land clear and free from the lawful claims of any person or persons whatever unto the said William Townsend his heirs and assigns forever In Witness whereof I have hereto set my hand and seal the day and year above written.
