TRANSCRIPTION: This Indenture made this sixth day of March Eighteen Hundred + nine between Lemuel Izrael and Joseph Newbery both of the state No Carolina and County of Robeson Planters Witnesseth that the said Lemuel Izrael for and in consideration of the sum of Twenty five dollars to him the said Lemuel Israel in hand paid by the said Joseph Newbery the receipt and full payment where- of is hereby acknowledged and him the said Lemuel Izrael to be fully satisfied contented and paid hath given granted bar- gained and sold and by these presents hath bargained sold infcoff’d convey’s and confirmed unto the said Joseph New- bery his heirs and assigns a certain tract or parcel of land situated lying and being in our County of Robeson Bounded as follows (viz) on the North East by Joseph Newberys lines on the North West by James Moores lines (formerly Joseph Andress’s) On the South west + south by the North East edge of Peters Swamp and on the South East by Newberys 100 acre line and the sandy bottom branch containing twenty five acres be the same more or less it being a part of 5000 acres patent granted to Jacob Rhodes + John Willis Bearing date 26th day of Decr 1794 – To have and to hold the above bargained land and premises to him the said Joseph Newbery his heirs and assigns together with all rights privileges profits and advantages to the said land belonging or in any wise appertaining singular clear and free from all manner of Incumberances or lawful claim or demand of any person or persons whatsoever and I the said Lemuel Izrael for my self my heirs and assigns do wattant defend and forever secure the above bargained land and premises to him the said Joseph Newbery his heirs and assigns forever to hold use occupy and enjoy the same peaceably and quietly and that the said Joseph Newbery hath full power and lawful authority to give or in any manner dis- pose of the same.
