All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/nc/ncfiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Guy Potts http://www.genrecords.net/emailregistry/vols/00017.html#0004214 August 22, 2020, 4:07 pm Written: 1813 Duplin County, NC Register of Deeds Bk 5A, pg 411 Deed for Certain Rights etc 17th day of October 1813 William Lewis of Duplin Co to John Lewis of Robeson Co, my right, title and claim of a certain bargain by me made with Thomas Douglass and Nicholas Powell, heirs at law of the late Starling Powell dec'd, it being one third of all the property and singularly all obtained in the Court of Equity in the county of Robeson wherein Benjamin and William Lewis did commence a suit against the executors of the late Sterling Powell dec'd agreeable to a purchase by them made with heirs of said Powell dec'd and I the said John Lewis do firmly agree on my part to exonerate, deed, acquit the said William Lewis of all the expenses that should accrue on the said suit in the Court of Equity as by them brought the said Benjamin and William, and I the said John Lewis do firmly agree to pay the heirs of Starling Powell dec'd the one third part of the monies due to them agreeable to contract made by the said Benjamin and William Lewis and do firmly agree the said William and John Lewis that said instrument shall be deposited in the hands of J Beck untill the parties shall apply to the said John or others by a hand first given by the John Lewis. Jan'y Term 1819 ===== Duplin County, NC Register of Deeds Bk 5a, pg 410 Indenture made May 20, 1815 between John Lewis of Robeson Co and Benjamin Lewis of Marion Dis: SC of the one part and Solomon Rouse of Duplin County, for $266 land in Duplin on the north side of Goshen Swamp, formerly belonged to Starling Powell deceased, known by the name of the Goshen place containing 379 acres it being two thirds of the said land that was called the Goshen Plantation and the lands adjoining in said Starling Powell's will and sold by the heirs of Starling Powell to Benjamin Lewis and William Lewis, the said William Lewis conveyed his part to John Lewis and one third part conveyed before by the said Benjamin Lewis and John Lewis.
