Robeson County, NC - Stephen Cox to Benjamin Lovitte, 1868 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Stephen Cox to Benjamin Lovitte State of North Carolina Robeson County This indenture made and executed this December the thirtieth day in the year of our lord one thousand eight hundred and sixty eight by and between Stephen Cox of the first part and Benjamin Lovitte of the other part all in the County and State aforesaid. Witnessed that said Stephen Cox do for in consideration of the sum of twenty five dollars to him in hand paid by the said Benjamin Lovitte Bargain Sell convey and deliver unto the said Benjamin Lovitte his heirs assigns a piece or parcel of land containing fifteen acres lying and being in the County and State aforesaid and on the east side of the Horse Pen Branch as will be freely shown by deed made from Thomas Collins to Stephen Cox for said land and I the said Stephen Cox covenant promise and agree to and with the said Benjamin Lovitt __ to warrant and forever defend the right and title for said lands from the claims of any and all persons whatsoeverto the said Benjamin Lovitt his heirs and assigns to have and to hold together with all its proffits privileges heredetraments appurtenances etc. there unto belonging. Ivey North Carolina In the Superior Court Robeson County Before the Clerk March 14th, 1910 The execution of the forgoing deed of conveyance from Stephen Cox to Benjamin Lovett was this day proven before me by the oath and examination of S.A. Edmund as to the handwriting of D.F. Edmund subscribing witness to said instrument as follows: North Carolina Robeson County S.A. Edmund being duly sworn says that Stephen Cox the maker of the forgoing deed of conveyance has been dead for many years and that D.F. Edmund and B.W. Ivey the subscribing witnesses to said instrument are also dead. That affiant is well acquainted with the handwriting of D.F. Edmund one of the subscribing witnesses is to said deed having often seen him write and that the name of the said D.F. Edmund subscribed to said instrument as witness thereto is genuine handwriting of the said D.F. Edmund. S.A. Edmund Sworn to and subscribed before me this 14th day of March 1910. W.H.
