ROBESON COUNTY, VA - DEEDS - William Walters to Jack a slave, 12 Jan 1837 ----¤¤¤---- William Walters to Jack a slave I William Walters of Coward Swamp of the State of North Carolina, Robeson County do for myself, my heirs, excutors, grant claim on a Negro man called Jack about sixty five years old, on condition that the said Negro man Jack shall pay to myself, my heirs, excutors the sum of one hundred fifteen dollars. It is hereby known and perfectly understood by myself and the said Jack that he is Trusted to strictly and faithfully serve me and my heirs until the aforesign one hundred and fifteen dollars is paid. In Witness where of I the said William Walters hath put my hand and seal this the twelvth day January 1837. Received the 12th day of January 1837 one hundred fifteen dollars in full of the above just claim of the said Negro Jack. William X Walters (his mark) Robeson County May Term 1837 proven and registered. From the contributor: William Walters Sr was born circa 1745 in Dobbs County NC and died 1841 Robeson County NC. He came to Robeson County in 1794.
