Written: July 20, 1846

           This Indenture made this 20th day of July
One thousand Eight Hundred and Forty Six Between
James West Senr. Of the State of North Carolina and
County of Robeson of the one part and Wright
Pitman of the State and County aforesaid of the
other part:  WitneSseth that the said James West
Senr. For and in consideration of the sum of one
Hundred and Twenty Five Dollars to him in
hand paid by the said Wright Pitman at and
before the sealing and delivering of these presents
the Receipt and payment he doth hereby ack=
nowledged  Hath given granted bargained and
sold and by these presents do give grant bargain
and sell unto the said Wright Pitman his heirs
and assigns forever a certain Tract piece or
Parcel of Land Situated Lying and being
the County aforesaid o the west side of the Great
Swamp Bounded and between the Lands of Moses
Meares  William West  James West Jr. and the Great
Swamp the lines to be designated as mentioned in
the several Deeds from the said James West Senr. To
his sons William West, James West, Jr. Redden West
and Nelson West, and on the side of the Great Swamp
agreeably to the lines of two different surveys one
to Benjamin Freeman and the other to the said
James West.  Containing in the whole Eighty
Six Acres be the same more or LeSs
            To have and to hold the aforesaid Land
and premises to him the said Wright Pitman his
heirs and assigns forever together with all and singu=
lar all rights profits heredilaments and appurtamen
=ces thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining
Clear and free from the said James West Senr. Or
his heirs or assigns or the lawful claim or claims
of any person or persons whatsoever shall warrant
and forever defend by these presents
