This included areas of presentday towns and communities of: Alfordsville, Barnesville, Bloomingdale, Echo, Elrod, Fairmont, Five Forks, Gaddys Mill, Gaddysville, Kingsdale, Lumberton [parts of], Marietta, Maxton, McDonald, Orrum, Plainview, Proctorville, Purvis, Raemon, Raynham, Rowland, and Seven Bridges. Evidently special concessions were made to the inhabitants thereof because of the great distance to the Anson Co Courthouse, and they were allowed to carry on their business at the Bladen Court House because it was much more convient to them. When Richmond County was established in 1777, this area was officially conceded back to Bladen County again. Ten years later, in 1787, this and other lands were taken from western Bladen to establish Robeson County, North Carolina. This Act of the North Carolina General Assembly took effect on January 6, 1787, and this area has forever since been a part of the County of Robeson.
