ROBESON COUNTY, NC - MILITARY - JAMES W. BLANKS, Civil War Military Record ----¤¤¤---- North Carolina Company F, 51st Regiment - "Ashpole True Boys" : JAMES W.BLANKS, Private - Born in Robeson County and was by occupation a farmer prior to enlisting in Robeson County at age 18, March 10, 1862. Present or accounted for until December 3, 1863, when he was reported absent without leave. Returned to duty in January-February, 1864. Present or accounted for until wounded in the shoulder at Drewry's Bluff, Virginia, May 16, 1864. Hospitalized at Richmond, Virginia. Returned to duty on June 23, 1864. Present or accounted for through December, 1864. Survived the war. James W. Blanks was born April 12, 1847 Robeson County NC and died January 27, 1912. He was the son of John and Aley Ivey Blanks. He became a Baptist Preacher and help in organizing "The Burnt Swamp Baptist Association".
