Taylor applied for pension, age 82, a resident at Howellsville postoffice, Robeson County, NC. He enlisted in Company K, 40th Regiment NC Troops in the spring of 1862. The following is a summary of information found in the application: Soldier was at Fort Fisher and Bald Head, North Carolina. He was not wounded but for some cause during the war his fingers and hands began to draw up and his eye sight is such that he is totally disabled and can do no work. This change in his hands was caused by exposure during the war. Physician remarks: The applicant is totally unfit to do any manual labor. Application was approved.
