Bridgers attended at the House of Mrs. Sarah Bullard of said County who made the following Declaration to entitle her to a Pension in right of her deceased husband James Bullard for Revolutionary Services under the act of CongreSs passed for that purpose, she the said Sarah Bullard being now from eighty to ninety years of age That her husband entered into the Services of the United States of American about the year 1777 under Captain John Cade and served months. That he again entered the services of the United States under Capt. Robeson or Ervin and served several months. That he again enlisted the Service of the United States and Served a number of months under different officers. That he again enlisted said Services and Served (?). That he preformed other services in the United States Army which this Declarant has now forgotten by reason of her advanced age and consequent loSs of memory. That he served in the army in the State of North & South Carolina and Georgia under the following Officers namely Genl. Green, Col. Brown, Capt. McKiSsack, Capt McRee and others not recollected. That he was in the Battle of the St(?) Bridge & other the names of the places not recollected. This Declarant further states that she intermarried with the said James Bullard on the Ninth of December 1774 that the said James Bullard departed this life in the month of April 1832. The said Declarant further believes the annexed furlough signed by Col. Tho. Brown and the annexed discharge Signed by Capt. (?) McRee is support of her claim & Services that she them among the papers of her deceased husband James Bullard. Sworn to & Subscribed before me this 9th her Day of February 1840 Sarah X Bullard J. D. Bridgers Chairman for this Court of Pleas and Quarter SeSsions for said county and State hereby certify that it satisfactorily appears to me that Sarah Bullard as the widow of James Bullard is entitled to a Pension for the Revolutionary Services of said James Bullard and I futher Certify that it appears to me that James Bullard departed this life in the month of April 1832. Bridgers chairman of the court of Pleas quarter SeSsions for said county and state do certify that upon genral report from the (?) State of North Carolina ) Robeson County ( Know all men by these present, That we Robert Bullard and Elias Bullard do hereby constitute and appoint William McNeill of the County and State aforesaid & Dickens and Combs of Washington City, D.C. our true and lawful Agent and Attorney to prosecute the claim of Sarah Bullard for any amount of Revolutionary Pension, or (?) of Pension that may be due; and we do hereby authorize our said Agent to examine all the papers and documents in relation to said claim, on file in the Department at Washington City or elsewhere to file additional evidence or arguments and to receive the certificate which may be issued for said Claim, which Certificate we wish made payable to ourselves Robert & Elias Bullard to appoint one or more substitutes under them for the purpose (?) impressed and to do all things that we might or could do were we personally present. Hereby ratifying and confirming all that our said Agents and Attorneys shall lawfully do in their presence. Our hands and seal this the 9th day of Jly A. D. 1851. Robt. D. 1851 before me the subscribing a Justice of the Peace in and for the said County aforesaid, personally appeared Robert Bullard and Elias Bullard and acknowledges, the foregoing Power of Attorney to be their act and did for the purpose therein mentioned. In testimony whereof, I hereunto set my hand and seal the day and year aforesaid. Tho. A. Norment, J.P. State of North Carolina ) Robeson County ( I Shadrach Howell Clerk of the Court of Pleas and Quarter Sessions of the County of Robeson and State aforesaid do hereby certify that satisfactory evidence has been exhibited before me that Sarah Bullard widow of James Bullard who was a Revolutionary soldier of the United States died on the 21 June A. D. 1843, leaving surviving her the following named children to wit, Sarah Pitman wife of Jacob Pitman, Robert Bullard, James Bullard, Elias Bullard, Richard Bullard, Pricilla Jackson wife of Henry Jackson. The said Sarah Pitman and Pricilla Jackson have since died. In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal of my official seal This the 25 day of July 1851.
