Raleigh News and Observer:
John Britt, who is charged with breaking into a warehouse at Lumberton and stealing
some whiskey, which, as a revenue officer, he had seized and put in there, and who 
was arrested but afterwards escaped, was surrounded at his home in Robeson county 
last Monday morning by officers and a desperate fight ensured Britt escaped, but it
is believed that he was severely wounded.
