The Robesonian has received from Mr. S.P. Wilson, postmaster at Fairmont, the 
following letter, which he received from the office of the sheriff of Granville 
county:
Oxford, N.C. Dec 15, 1917

Postmaster, Fairmont, N.C.
 Sir: I have an old man in jail here. He was found here in a back lot about 3 
or 4 weeks ago near frozen. We are taking care of him. He doesn't know 
anything, can't tell where he came from. Sometimes he will say Robeson County 
and Ashpole. He is an old man, about 70 or 75 years old, tall, gray hair and 
beard. If you know anything of such a man leaving your community, please let us 
know or send someone for him. Sometimes he will say his name is James. Please 
enquire for such a man.
