ROBESON COUNTY, NC - MISCELLANEOUS - Evander (Van) Speir Walters, Pig Farmer ----¤¤¤¤---- 100 HOGS DROWNED Mr Van Walters of Princess Ann Lost That Number During recent High Waters---Robeson's Leading Hog Raiser Mr Van Walters, the well-known stock raiser, who lives near Princess Ann told the Robesonian reporter recently that he lost 100 hogs during the recent floods. Most of the hogs lost were pigs and were swept away by the waters which over flowed Lumber River. Mr Walters raises more hogs than any man in Robeson County. He says his usual number runs from two to three hundred head. He has several thousand acres of swamp lands fenced and it does not cost him much to grow hogs in his pasture.
