Robeson County, NC - Obituary of Ellen Andrews, 1942 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ One of State's Oldest Citizens Passed Today Mrs. Ellen Andrews, Mother of 3 citizens of Robeson Was 111 years Old. Ashe, Sept 30---Mrs. Ellen Andrews, one of North Carolina's oldest citizens, died here this morning at the age of 111. Mrs. Andrews who had been very agile and active until recently passed away at 6 o'clock at the home of Lawrence Andrews, a son, with whom she made her home. A native of Brunswick county, Mrs. Andrews was born November 1831, a daughter of the late Benjamin and Prudie Carlyle. Her husband, William B. Andrews died in March 1936 at the age of 79. Funeral arrangement have not been made. Survivors are six sons, W. H. of Rt. 4 Lumberton, James of Rt. 2 Fairmont; D. H. of Rt 1. Parkton; Roland of Jacksonville, N.C.; Palmer and Lawrence of the home; and one daughter, Mrs Lattie Babson of the home. She was the mother of 10 children.
