Death and Funeral of Mrs. Susan A.
   Barfield – …
 
   Lumberton, R. 5, Dec. 31 – Mrs. Su-
san A. Barfield, wife of Mr. G. W.
Barfield of near Bellamy, died the
19th inst at 6 p. m.
   She was a daughter of the late Hen-
ry and Nancy Barker and joined the
Methodist church at 15 years of age. 
On the 9th of Dec. 1892 was married
to Mr. G. W. Barfield and of this union
were born four children – R. T., who
is married and lives near Clarkton;
Sallie, wife of Andrew Taylor of
Lumberton, R. 7; James I. of Akron,
O., and Mary Ethel, who lived with
her parents.
   All of her children were with her
when the end came.  She had all the
medical attention that was necessary
from Lumberton and Clarkton and all
that loving hands could do for her
was done.
   She had two brothers living – J. W.
and I. M. Barker of Lumberton.  Mr.
I.M., who has been confined to his
home for a long time with sickness,
was unable to be with his sister.
   The funeral was conducted at the
grave in Meadowbrook cemetery by
Rev. N. L. Beabolt.  There was a
large number of people from the Ten-
Mile section, also Lumberton.  “Near-
er My God to Thee” and “Asleep in
Jesus” were sung by the choir.  The
floral offerings were beautiful and
covered the grave.
