MRS. BARNEY BAXLEY DIES AT HOME NEAR LUMBERTON

            Mrs. Barney Baxley, aged 78, died at her home near Lumberton, on 
the Whiteville road, Wednesday at 9 a. m. from influenza and infirmities.  She 
had been in failing health for sometime but had not been confined to bed all 
the time.

            Funeral services were conducted today by Rev. E. A. Paul, pastor 
of East Lumberton Baptist church, of which deceased was a member, and 
interment was made in Meadowbrook cemetery.

            Surviving are her husband, 3 daughters – Mesdames Laura Prevatt of 
Fairmont, Sallie Bodiford of Lumberton R. 1, Lula West of Lumberton, R. 5; 4 
sons – Messrs. Troy Baxley on Fairmont, Jake and Melvin Baxley of Lumberton, 
R. 5, and Ira Baxley of Rockingham; 2 sisters and 1 brother – Mesdames Winnie 
Prevatt of Lumberton and Mag Maulden of Shannon, and Mr. James Baxley of St. 
Pauls.
