His was a life of singular purity and upright- ness. Few men live so long and so uniter- ruptedly maintain a name as wide-spread for unsullied integrity. His was one of the sturdiest of characters. In it there was no compromise with evil. His very silence on the least questionable propositions was felt to be a rebuke. He was indeed a living epistle of Christ. Out brother has gone but his works shall follow him. Having minis- tered long as a pious physician to his suffer- ing brother man in order to stay the inroads of their diseases and alleviate their pains, he is now, great numbers are confident, where he himself is free from disease and pains and made perfectly blessed in the enjoyment of God. Having fought the good fight and kept the faith we are assured he now wears the crown. Antioch church has lost one of its best members, but heaven has another added to its multitudes clothed in white and filled with glory. L.
